OAK BARREL AGING
Here at the shop we have lots of wine options for oak barrel aging and the cost is $30.
Why Barrel Age?
The benefits of oak barrel aging are two parts: the slow introduction of oxygen into the wine and imparting the subtle flavours of the wood into the wine. We use Hungarian Oak which adds butterscotch, vanilla, clove, cinnamon, and a hint of toffee. Wine, as it rests in the barrel, goes through subtle chemical changes, resulting in greater complexity and a softening of the harsh tannins and flavours present at the end of fermentation. Basically, you can drink it sooner!
We do large batches in big barrels available seasonally, or 23L single batch barrels available year-round.
