DREAM WINE LISTS

2011 LIMITED EDITIONS are revealed. More information and literature will be available within the next two weeks. We have also ordered a thirty-minute DVD on the 2011 Ltd. edition wines. Each DVD has a brief overview of the five wines as well as an in depth analysis for each. There is also a bonus clip on how to wine. The presenter is Tim Vendergrift from Winexpert, the company that produces our wines. Below is the brief rundown of the wines available.

January

Red: Australian Shiraz/Viognier (from Gum River);

White: Pacifica: A blend of B.C Chardonnay, Californian Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier and Australian Semillon

February

Red: Italian Primetivo (a first picked zinfandel), full bodied, a good candiadate to oak.

March

White: Austrian Gruner Veltliner. This is a rare grape that produces what may be one of the driest whites in the world.  We are particularily excited about this interesting offering.

April

Portuguese Douro Tinto. A blend of Touriga Nationa (usually goes into port), Tinta Roriz (know in Spain as Tempranillo) and Touriga Franca . Again a wine that should be a little bit different. Medium bodied but with a rich flavour.

DREAM WINE LISTS
2010-09-06
If we were to start all over again with our wine cellars, would we have ordered the same wines? This was a topic of discussion recently and we came up with some suggestions and two lists of our recent favorites.

List A   (someone likes reds)
Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon - 30 bottles
Symphony - 30 bottles (a white blend)
Chilean Carmenere - 30 bottles
Argentinian Malbec - 30 bottles
Italian Estate Barolo  - 30 bottles

LIST B
Argentinian Malbec - oaked - 30 bottles
Stags Leap Merlot - 30 bottles
Ltd Edition - Pacific Quartet - 30 bottles
Black Sage Bench Chardonnay - 30 bottles
French Cabernet Sauvignon - 30 bottles

Each of these would be a great start to a cellar. The only problem is how to avoid drinking them too early. We think that perhaps,  6-12 bottles of each should be marked and dated for future consumption. Then as we add newer favorites and replenish old standbys, we would continue to hold back 12 bottles  of each until they have had the chance to mature to their full potential. in 18 months or so, you would have mature wine at the ready.
